Infectious Diseases Didactic Series
Didactic Series: The Program Faculty provide semi-weekly didactic sessions to promote discussion regarding timely or priority topics in infectious diseases medicine. This case-oriented series focuses on content areas that complement the formal program (lectures, conferences, and seminars) including: A. Factors that influence or determine the outcomes between the host and pathogen, including microbial virulence factors and host defense mechanisms; B. Basic concepts of immunology, biologic therapy, and infections in hosts having deficieny or modified immune responses; C. Epidemiology and clinical course, manifestations, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of major infectious agents impacting public health, including viruses (air and water borne), chlamydiae, mycoplasma, rickettsioses, bacteria including spirochetes and mycobacteria, mycoses, protozoa, and helminthes; D. Quality assurance and healthcare cost containment in clinical practice of infectious diseases. |
