Excellence Mission:
Dr. Sears joined the Division of HIV Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 2014. He earned his undergraduate degree in American History from Northwestern University and his medical degree from Brown University. Dr. Sears performed his internal medicine residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and subsequently worked as in internist for Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. He then completed his infectious diseases fellowship at UC San Francisco. Dr. Sears has a particular interest in implementation science and quality improvement research among disadvantaged populations suffering from infectious diseases in the United States and abroad. He has previously worked to improve HIV outcomes in the Dominican Republic, tuberculosis treatment in Liberia, and malaria case management in Uganda. He currently provides HIV primary care at the Long Beach Comprehensive Health Center as well as HIV and infectious diseases consultative services at Harbor-UCLA. In addition to implementation science, his research interests include evaluation of HIV therapies and liver disease in the HIV-infected population. Dr. Sears is the Associate Program Director for the Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Harbor-UCLA.
