Margaret "Janie" Caplan, MD MS

Dr. Caplan joined the Division of HIV Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center after completing her Infectious Diseases fellowship and Masters of Science in Clinical Research at UCLA. She graduated medical school from the University of South Florida and completed Internal Medicine residency at the George Washington University. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, she worked as a clinic physician for NIAID at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, screening and monitoring patients on research protocols studying HIV, Hepatitis C and other infectious diseases. During fellowship, her Master’s thesis focused on contraceptive use among African women following HIV seroconversion. Her clinical and research interests include HIV treatment and prevention with a focus on pre-exposure prophylaxis and women’s health in underserved communities.
